Stanford STUDENT SPACES
Client: Stanford University
Services: Architecture/Interior Design, Signage
Working closely with a group of students and faculty at Stanford, we transformed a number of under-utilized and outdated areas of campus into vibrant and dynamic workspaces for undergraduates.
Each project focused on a different department with unique functional, aesthetic, programmatic, and technological needs, requiring a high degree of coordination with the campus and consultants.
Using warm materials like cork, wood, and wool, and a welcoming palette of natural shades, we designed the spaces to encourage students to linger, collaborate, and dream up new projects. The spaces also feature unique elements, including carved wood art panels based on biological specimens, bold mega-graphics, and playful handmade rugs that use imagery of cells and organisms. Custom furniture allows the spaces to be reconfigurable for small group work and large events, and varying seating types encourages multiple modes of work.
